Presiden Joko Widodo pada 15 Mei 2023 mengesahkan Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 26 Tahun 2023 yang membolehkan pengisapan pasir laut ataupun sedimennya di luar wilayah pertambangan.

Pengisapan pasir laut sebelumnya diatur dalam Keputusan Presiden Nomor 33 Tahun 2002.
