Swimming Pool Maintenance 101: How to Take Care of Your Pool

  • Written by NewsServices.com

Many families dream of having a swimming pool in their backyard. However, installing the swimming pool is not just the only thing you have to worry about. Once it is constructed and finished, you will be responsible for regular maintenance. Neglecting this can damage your swimming pool; thus, making it unsafe to use. The good news is that properly maintaining a swimming pool is not difficult if you know the basics.

Let’s explore them below.

Cleaning the Swimming Pool

The hardest part of swimming pool maintenance is cleaning it efficiently. Pools come with a filter system that cleans and circulates the water. The most popular one uses sand to eliminate contaminants. This system must be cleaned and should also cycle on and off.

To clean the filter system and the pool water, you first need to eliminate all big particles from the water, including leaves. This can be done using a pool net. The filter system will eliminate smaller particles by sucking water into the sand filter. The filter must be active for six and 8 hours a day. If you see that the filter is not as effective as it should be, then you’ll need to do some deep cleaning.

It is important to brush and vacuum your swimming pool at least once a week during the prime swimming season. Use a swimming pool cleaner to make brushing and vacuuming easier and more efficient. This is specially designed to clean the swimming pool without human interaction. The best part is that it functions using your mobile device.

Adjust Chemical Levels

After a detailed cleaning, it is time to check on the chemical and PH levels in the swimming pool. A lot of pool owners do not spend time ensuring that a good balance is obtained in a backyard swimming pool. This is not rocket science and can be done in minutes. All you need is a water test kit to determine the chemical levels. Once you figure them out, you can effectively alter the additions you have made to your pool water.

Troubleshooting Issues

When you pay close attention to essential pool maintenance, you won’t experience any serious issues with your swimming pool. However, some common problems you might encounter include cloudy water, staining, chlorine burn algae, etc. If you see any of these issues, discontinue using your pool until they are properly addressed.

The great thing is that most of these problems can be solved right away and do not cause any health issues. For instance, algae can be handled by adjusting the levels of chlorine. Meanwhile, cloudy water is a sign that your pool requires regular cleaning.

These are just some simple but effective swimming pool cleaning tips that you can consider to keep your pool clean and healthy.
